My History As An English Learner

Since When I’m Learning English Language?

Assalam O Alaikum ,
I’m Sabika Fatima and I’m here to share some of my experiences as an English language learner.
As you’ll know English became a global language and spoken by numerous people as a second language. I’m learning English since I was in eighth standard . Before that , I was so frightened to utter a single word in English because of many reasons and the main reason was the fear of even speaking in English because I was a shy kid back then and as long as I remember didn’t have any good memories in my school / college life .
To be honest , when I was in eighth grade realized that I can write or understand English like an average person can but couldn't speak at all and thats what hit me hard . My school was English medium but our teachers didn’t communicate with us in English . So I decided to learn English on my own. I read several novels and watch different shows. By the time I came to university I started to understand English properly.

Oral / Written Skills I’m Working On :

I’m willing to improve my vocabulary and gain more confidence on my speaking skills . As you all know practice makes a man perfect so right now I’m only looking forward to that.

Did I Have Good English Teachers ?

I’m blessed with good teachers in a sense that they didn’t communicate with us in English but they boosted our confidence and encouraged us to speak . They took  presentations, discuss current affairs with us and asked our opinions on different topics.

Good / Not Good About Teachers:

GOOD: My teachers were the one's who made me confident about my skills . They paid extra attention to weak students and encourage them to speak whats on their mind.

BAD: All teachers are amazing in my perception but the way of teaching and how they interact with their students makes them different . The aura they built around them instinctively categorize them as approachable or unapproachable .

The one thing I learn from my experience is that confidence is the key to success English is not our first language so dont feel embarrass if you speak anything wrong learn from your mistakes and practice thats all .

Thank You .
