Hashem Aha Bara, newscaster of the program “inside story” discuss the accusation that China detained more than a million Uighur Muslim workers in camps that many experts say resembles “a massive interment camps, shrouded in secrecy, a sort of no-right zone”. In their defence China denied the fact that such camps exist but criminals involved in minor offences are sent to “vocational education and employment training centres”.
Furthermore in the show Hashem introduced the panels of experts namely from HongKong was Andrew leung an international and the independent China’s strategist. From Nottingham in the UK was Andreas Folder a lecturer at the university of Nottingham and a political analyst. Lastly from the Cornell Germany was Adrian an expert on China’s minority policy.
Andrew leung said that the reason behind these actions are the fear of separatism for China. He said separatism is a nightmare for any democratic advanced country like Spain and Catalonia as well. In reply to this Andreas folder denied the statement of Andrew and said that such measures are not justifiable because ninety percent of the workers in those camps are not even at fault and Chinese government have no proof that they are involved in some kind of terrorist activity. They are innocent and forcefully held in interment camps.
The camps are believed to be in the Xinjiang region. Most workers practice Islam and speak a Turkic language which is completely different from Han Chinese. The ethnic tensions have risen after the mass migration of Han Chinese. Uighur Muslim workers are being blamed of several attacks including Beijing’s chairman square in 2013.
UN said it is a forced attempt to change the identity of more than 1 million people in Xinjiang. Experts said that such measures are indefensible or unjustified taken by Chinese government because what we see is a highly racist policy. People are forced by the Chinese government to indoctrinate their entire ethnicity, in such way they protect peace and prevent terrorism.
There is no law that allows the ethnic discrimination, religious persecution and indoctrination in China or any other country and actions should be taken against such measures happening in China.
