Aminah Assilmi was a broadcast journalist, Muslim activist and director of International Union of Muslim Women. She shared her experience as a Muslim for about sixteen years of her life and the problems and criticism she faced by society and her own family.
She said that when she was trying to convert some Muslims to Christianity, she ended up being Muslim herself. She read Quran to find something to disagree with in order to convert muslims to christianity but find it total and complete without any fault. She was astonished about the details it contained about everything. Aminah then shared her struggles she faced at work due to the way she dressed. She got fired many times or being criticized just because of the way she covered herself properly or she’s a Muslim but brought back again due to her lovely attitude towards people and efforts she put in her work. She tells us story about her family that when she decided to convert from christianity to Islam, her family was forcefully taken from her by the help of law. Her husband who she loved did not support her and when she fought for the custody of her children, she didn’t get it. She didn’t even get permission to meet. In this journey she loose her life she built with so much passion and love but she did sabr and left everything in the hands of Allah and move on. Later her friend visited her family after eighteen years and come back with a news that they accepted Islam in front of him. She shared her story with us because she tried to explain the importance of Sabr and Allah never breaks his promise or forgets your prayers and must fulfill it on the right time.
Aminah said that the colours and textures of the earth are gift of Allah for us. This universe and their greens are created by Almighty Allah because Allah loves us the most. We should be prouder of the fact that we gave birth in a Muslim household and spread Islam by acting upon things taught by our Prophet and His Almighty Allah.
