Thank You For Being Late : Thomas Friedman

Thomas Friedman is an author of “Thank you for being late” , three  times Pulitzer winner and award winning NYT columnist. He talks about the topic on which he wrote the book was an optimistic guide into the thriving age of acceleration. The title of the book was actually an incident happened with him when he went on a breakfast and the person came late due to traffic issue. It gave time to Thomas to pause and reflect the surrounding world and how fast it evolve. This event provoke him to write a book on the topic because the author believes that when people get free time, they pause their busy life and think, self-reflect, imagine and relax. Author said the book have two halves and its about today’s world that how it works with people and culture. According to Thomas Friedman the world is reshaping it can be good or bad, you need to understand the three largest forces and these are Moore’s law, Globalisation and Mother nature which are bio-diversity and climate change. These accelerations are transforming the workplace, politics, geo-politics, ethics and community. Author emphasizes on Moore’s law and said that it was predicted that the number of transistors will double in about two year according to Moore’s law. The author then explained the exponential increase in computing powers and 2007 was a major changing point. The facebook and Twitter started and went global , Steve Jobs introduced iPhone, the advancement in silicon chips, software, storage, sensors , networking and the creation of new technology platform. According to Thomas this platform is reshaping everything, he called it “supernova”. He showed us that how can we anchor ourselves as an individual in this century to save the world or to destroy it.
